EXERCISE (or stability) BALLSAn exercise ball is also referred to as a stability ball, a swiss ball, a fitness ball and a yoga ball. The main advantage of exercising with an exercise ball as opposed to exercising directly on a hard flat surface is that the body responds to the instability of the ball to stay balanced, engaging more muscles. Those muscles become stronger over time to keep balance. Another advantage is that exercise with an exercise ball is fun.
You can shake up your regular exercise routine, simply by incorporating the exercise ball. For example, you could do crunches, dumbbell presses, push-ups, squats, calf-raises, planks, stretching and more. Ideas: www.fitnessista.com Other games you can play with an exercise ball include: Hot Potato, Relay races, tag games and more. Source: www.livestrong.com Need a ball? The Lethbridge Sport Council has a couple you could borrow. Visit the Lethbridge Sport Council equipment forum to borrow one. |

FLY A KITELethbridge is known as the windy city, so why not take advantage of the wind and go fly a kite! About 5-25mph is best for most kites to fly, and you also need a clear and open area for your flying space. For your safety, never fly your kite in the rain or lightening, electricity in clouds is attracted to damp kite lines.

FOUR SQUAREFour square is a great game with families and friends, so why not head over to a school playground and play our favourite game from elementary! You need at least four players to play, extra players can wait on the side for their turn. Have each player stand in one of the squares, note the highest ranking square is square #4. One player will start the game by serving the ball in their square by bouncing it once in their square, then hit it to the first square. Make sure the ball stays within the other squares and is not on or outside any lines. Receivers must hit the ball back to any other players. Continue playing until a player hits the ball out of the square or it bounces twice in the player's own square. This will make the player out.

FOX AND GEESEGrowing up, Fox and Geese was a favorite game, particularly in the school yard or if cousins came to visit! Next time it snows, have a game of Fox and Geese before the snow gets disturbed.
This game of tag requires four or more players and a large open area of snow Directions
